Ms. Valerie Lemmons

This is my first year teaching at Hewitt-Trussville High School and I could not be more excited!  I have been teaching theatre in public schools for 9 years (Jefferson County and Monroe County Schools).  In my previous life I was a freelance director/choreographer/performer for theatre companies in AL, GA, TN, and FL.  I worked as a Cast Member for Walt Disney World Entertainment in Orlando, FL and survived life in New York City.  I earned a BA in both Musical Theatre and Dance from Birmingham-Southern College and my Masters in Secondary English Language Arts from the University of Montevallo.  In the summers I serve as a Teaching Artist for the UAB Visual and Performing Arts Centers.  I am a huge animal lover and have been known to rescue all types of creatures.  I have a 14 year old black lab mix named Roodles and two cats.  Dempsy was rescued from a dumpster and Olivia is a rescue that showed up on my porch.  I have a wonderful boyfriend Charlie who is a helicopter mechanic for the Army National Guard.  I look forward to encouraging and shaping our future performers, technicians, and theatre patrons.

I use REMIND and Google Classroom as my primary means of communicating with parents and students.
