(TRUSSVILLE) - Trussville City Schools (TCS) Superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill provided community leaders a comprehensive overview of school system operations at the April 2021 Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.

From operating schools during a pandemic to academic and athletic successes, Dr. Neill addressed approximately 60 Chamber members at Ferus’ outdoor pavilion in downtown Trussville in her annual "State of the Schools" address sponsored by the TCS Foundation.

The overview provided attendees reminders of how Trussville City Schools provided K-12 families multiple learning options as the 2020-2021 School Year began back in August (Face-to-Face, Virtual, & Blended learning opportunities).  Dr. Neill lauded TCS students, parents, educators, and administrators for forging ahead with quality instruction despite challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chamber luncheon attendees also learned about the school system’s COGNIA Accreditation review (October 2020); Hewitt-Trussville High School’s National Blue Ribbon Award (August 2020); capital projects - including the new Central Office now under construction on Highway 11; National Merit Scholars; and various Hewitt-Trussville High School athletic championships.

Dr. Neill also used the Chamber luncheon as an opportunity to introduce Mrs. Sherrye Tolbert, the newest appointee to the Trussville City Board of Education.  Mrs. Tolbert was appointed to the school board in March 2021 by the Trussville City Council.  Once officially in place this June, Mrs. Tolbert will fill the vacancy left by outgoing board member Mr. Stan Garrett, who is completing three consecutive terms of service to the Trussville City Board of Education.
