1st Grade Students Celebrate Reading with "Short the Squirrel"

(PES) - Mrs. Penny Moore's 1st grade class participated in the 1st Annual Reading Pep Rally (virtual) celebrating SHORT the Squirrel’s first birthday.

The fun event promoted reading in classrooms, throughout the school, and across the community.

SHORT the Squirrel is a new non-profit organization endorsed by Governor Kay Ivey.

•SHORT’s first birthday was February 22
• The program was hosted by Troy University Alumni Gerry Brooks, “America’s Principal.”
• The 30-minute pep rally was broken into five-minute learning segments

Celebrating reading and student achievement with Short the Squirrel provides a unique instructional twist and aligns with the Alabama Course of Study.
