Degrees and Certifications:

I currently hold three college degrees that have well-prepared me for my current position as school counselor. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Collaborative Education from Birmingham-Southern College, a master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a master's degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama.

Mrs. Lauren Blake

I began my teaching career in 2001 at Greystone Elementary School in Hoover, Alabama.  I taught 4th grade there for four years.  When my oldest child was born, I wanted to teach closer to home and in the community in which I lived.  I began teaching 4th grade at Paine Intermediate School in 2005 and taught 4th grade for six more years.  As a fourth grade teacher, I always enjoyed helping students solve their problems and learn how to deal with various situations in life.  As a result, I went back to school and began working on my master's degree in school counseling.  In 2011, I took on the role as 4th and 5th grade counselor at Paine Intermediate School.  This year, I am extremely excited to serve as the school counselor once again for all students at Magnolia Elementary, kindergarten through 5th grades! After 18 years in education, I can truly say that I have enjoyed every year that I spent teaching in the classroom and I am enjoying my work now as a school counselor.  Our children are precious gifts and I am so thankful I am able to work with them each day in a variety of ways to help unleash their potential.

I grew up in the Trussville community and graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School many years ago.  I am married and have two sons who are in 9th grade and 6th grade.  I also have a silver Labrador named Blue who is the real baby of the family! We live in Trussville so I hope to see you around the community.
